I Dream

This was written by Jim Bailey 2 years ago in the Metro prayer room.

I dream of a church that looks to you.
I dream of a church that depends on you!
I dream of a church that sees you.
I dream of a church that knows how to engage the world.
I dream of a church that loves lost people more than they love safety and Christian culture.

I dream of being lost in your embrace.
I dream of joy unspeakable.
I dream of the lame walking.
I dream of HIV healed.
I dream of politicians worshipping.
I dream of sending sons and daughters to the ends of the world to reap a harvest.

I dream of insane mercy.
I dream of undeniable faith.
I dream of combustible hope,
I dream of torrents of grace.

No matter what my eyes see beyond what my ears hear
You've made a dreamer in me.

I will not rest until I taste this dream in reality.

Prophetic Proclamations

In the middle of the night, during a thunderstorm on May 7, 2005, Terri Sullivant was declaring these seven prophetic proclamations, which were then punctuated by the thunder. Her husband Michael woke up and realized that she was not awake, but was having a divine encouter. He wrote these proclamations down as she spoke them out and felt that these were being released over Metro. Here they are for your consideration:

  1. Use the key to open the vault and get the treasures.
  2. The ceiling has lifted off.
  3. Worship is coming down like spring rain watering the earth.
  4. Financial provision is coming, pennies from heaven.
  5. Father's (or fathers?) coming like a tidal wave.
  6. We will dance again above the clouds.
  7. Sweet presence will wash away bitterness and enmity.

Reading through the Word

It has been an incredible blessing to read the bible in 90 days. I am now actively involved and I am amazed at the benefits I have uncovered. As I sweep down the pages I have found that it gives me a strategic view of God's uncompromising heart plans with the people He created and loves. I am once again awed by God's love, and grace and patience with mankind.

Reading the bible as a narrative-----------a story from beginning to end compares to looking at a large painting from across the room and being stunned by the beauty and depth of the subject or observing the same painting up close and marveling at the magnificent brush strokes. I tend to marvel at detail so this has been a wonderful disciplined departure for me. I have come to know the immediate context of each book in a profound way. It is different than other plans I have used for reading the bible in a year. I am reading not merely to finish the bible in a year but reading through from Genesis to Revelation gives me an order of chronological events, prophesies, overlapping historical and spiritual context. I am already feeling in my spirit the rising crescendo of the end of the story.

When I read the living word I see the empowering presence of life in God's relationships with His people. God is constantly reminding the people through His prophets of what He has done for them and promises to do in the future because of His righteous love. Do you not remember when He... I am reminded again and again. God longs to bring truthful existence to my heart.

Shining Word

The Word is a lamp
.......repelling the dark,
.......chasing away shadows,
.......growing brighter in me.

The Word is a lamp
.......erupting in joy,
.......cultivating peace,
.......planting seeds of happiness in me.

The Word is a lamp
.......deepening the Christ-ness,
.......expanding the relationship with our Lord,
.......ushering more of the Spirit to the center of my heart.

The Word is a lamp to my feet, a light to my path
.......Providing direction
.......Comforting my comfortless soul
.......Growing brighter…brighter
.......Illuminating my heart to the point of acceptance.

The Word
.......Shining
.......Glowing
.......Growing brighter in me.
